Observer: Occupy Charlotte Protesters In Need Of A Place To Seek Relief
(By Steve Harrison and April Bethea, Staff Writers) Almost two weeks after supporters of the Occupy Charlotte movement set up tents at the Old City Hall, a common issue has crept up in recent days: Where should the demonstrators go to the bathroom?Occupy Charlotte organizers say they'd like to set up portable bathrooms for people who have joined the movement, with some appealing to Mayor Anthony Foxx for help.
Observer: Democrats Seek Housing Manager
(Jim Morrill, jmorrill@charlotteobserver.com) Democratic convention organizers today begin seeking bids for what they say could be a multimillion-dollar contract to manage housing services for thousands of delegates and other visitors.The vendor would manage the convention's inventory of hotel rooms, offer 24/7 reservation services, and oversee deposits and refunds.
Observer: Early Voting Is Under Way
Early voting for the Nov. 8 general election began Oct.21. In Mecklenburg, the county is opening one early voting site initially: Hal Marshall Annex at 618 N. College St.
News Observer: N.C. Legislature More Business Friendly
RALEIGH - The new Republican majority at the General Assembly declared they'd be more responsive to North Carolina business. A report released Thursday by a nonpartisan group supported by business interests seems to show lawmakers did just that.
